Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was born March 10 1949. She is an American investor and speaker as well as consultant. In 2001, she launched The Corcoran Group in New York City. The company was sold to the company to NRT for $66 millions. Then, shortly after she left the business. One of the show's original "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in all 12 seasons of ABC's Shark Tank to date. She has been involved in 53 deals as of February of 2020. The largest was a $350,000 investment to pay for 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second of 10 children from a working class Irish Catholic family. Florence was her mother. She was an exemplary household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was a mover between jobs and the next throughout Corcoran’s childhood. At times, her family relied on the delivery of food that was free from a local grocery store. Corcoran remembers her father as an intoxicated man who would sometimes treat her mother with contempt and disrespect, especially after having consumed alcohol. Corcoran was struggling in school, and she discovered later that she was dyslexic. Corcoran was educated at an Catholic elementary school and then enrolled in high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran was absent from several classes in her first year, and then transferred to Leonia High School where she was a D student.
